Our Depth of Experience is What makes us able to see one another
Lacy Archer
Yoga Therapist | Sociologist | Founder of Mountain Heart Collective
I’m Lacy Archer, a yoga therapist and founder of Mountain Heart Collective, a fair-trade alternative health and wellness community rooted in Taos, New Mexico.
I work with people who are carrying a lot—the imprints of grief, stress, life transitions, recovery, and the many complexities of being human in today’s world. My work is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with the body, and discover moments of steadiness, compassion, and care within ourselves.
My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in deep listening. I honor each person’s lived experience, unique rhythms, and individual path toward healing. Whether working one-on-one, in groups, or alongside integrative and healthcare providers, I create space for mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Much of my work centers on grief and transition—those profound thresholds in life when what once was no longer fits, and what comes next has yet to take shape. Through listening to the body, exploring movement, and tending to what quietly asks for attention, we create room for healing, integration, and a deeper sense of inner peace. My intention is to meet each person with respect, curiosity, and humanity, allowing change to unfold in its own time.
My Journey: From the Mountains to the Healing Path
My work today has been shaped not only by formal study, but by the life experiences that have brought me to my knees, asked me to begin again, and invited me to discover what healing can truly mean.
I believe in the power of sharing our stories, especially the parts that leave us vulnerable. My own experiences with complex grief, unexpected life catapults, and what I have come to understand as soul retrieval have shaped my capacity to accompany others through profound transformation.
Before becoming a yoga therapist, I was a wilderness professional and ultrarunner—a mountain runner at heart. My journey took me across the world, where I explored wild landscapes and began studying yoga along the way. The mountains taught me about resilience, presence, and the quiet strength that emerges when we learn to meet ourselves where we are.
In 2016, a major car accident changed the course of my life.
I sustained multiple serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, fractured vertebrae, a hyperextended knee, and a significant tear extending from my gums into my inner chin. In the days that followed, I began practicing whatever yoga my body could manage. I turned to breath, movement, and stillness to help navigate pain, manage stress, rebuild strength, and find a way back to myself.
The road to recovery was neither simple nor linear. Yet just four months and three days after the accident, I was running 30 miles in a day again.
Looking back, I recognize that experience as a profound turning point. What initially felt like a life-altering disruption became the catalyst for a deeper exploration of yoga’s healing potential. I began to understand how these practices could support not only my own recovery, but also the well-being of the people I love. I became increasingly curious about the relationship between the body, the nervous system, pain, resilience, and our capacity to adapt through life's most challenging seasons.
In 2019, after already completing more than 500 hours of yoga training, I began formally studying yoga therapy. My path continued to unfold through the study of pain care management, neurological health, longevity, and whole-person well-being. Over time, this exploration led me toward the profound terrain of grief, loss, and transition integration.
Then life brought me into a different kind of wilderness.
Within a relatively short period, I lost my four closest family members. The magnitude of these losses drew me into what I can only describe as a grief portal—a deeply personal passage through sorrow, disorientation, and the unraveling of the life I had known.
Grief changed me. It asked me to listen differently, to soften into uncertainty, and to discover new ways of being with what cannot simply be fixed or overcome. The integration of those losses continues to inform my life and my work.
With time, I came to understand that my experiences had cultivated something I could offer others: not answers to grief, but a compassionate presence within it. I know that healing is not about returning to who we were before. Sometimes, it is about learning how to live in a body, a life, and a world that have changed.
This is the place from which I work today—not as someone who has mastered the path, but as someone who has walked through difficult terrain and understands the importance of having a steady, caring ally beside you.
A Space for Your Becoming
Today, I create space for you and whatever portal, threshold, or season of life you find yourself moving through.
You may be navigating grief, recovering from an injury or illness, living with persistent stress, or sensing that something within you is ready for change. You may not have the words for what you are experiencing yet. You do not need to arrive with a plan, a clear intention, or a vision of what healing should look like.
Together, we can begin where you are.
Through yoga therapy, embodied awareness, mindful movement, and a compassionate relationship with your own experience, we can explore what support looks like for you. My intention is to help you cultivate greater connection with yourself, build resources for navigating life's challenges, and make room for the next chapter to emerge in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
There is no single way through grief. No universal timeline for recovery. No one-size-fits-all path to transformation. I believe there is wisdom in honoring the individual, listening deeply, and creating the conditions in which healing can unfold.
Life Beyond the Mat
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll often find me walking softly through the mountains, arroyos, and desert washes of the Southwest. I spend time bringing artistic visions into form, teaching community classes at Mountain Heart, and occasionally stepping into the festival world as a Transformational Yoga Coordinator.
The natural world continues to be one of my greatest teachers, reminding me of the beauty of impermanence, the intelligence of our own rhythms, and the possibility of beginning again.
An Invitation
If something in my story or approach resonates with you, I invite you to reach out.

Individual sessions and immersive retreats are available for those seeking a more personal, supported space for exploration and integration.
